“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.” – Neil Gaiman
It is that time of the year, old is slipping away as the New Year creeps in at midnight and welcomes with open arms. As you dress up one last time in 2017, here are sneaky tips to my New Year eve look and mood for the coming year.
Break the rules – White is daywear, black is sexy! In a sea of black cocktail dresses, wear a bright color or a pastel and stand out. Same goes for the New Year. I spent a lot of 2017 reconsidering my life choices and career path and let self-doubt creep in. In 2018, I hope to follow my heart, passion and believe more strongly.
No to OTT (over the top) – I love my sequin and shine, but this New Year am going minimal – less is more, be it in sartorial choices or life. A well structure dress is more than what you need to shine on. Similarly, focus on the few but amazing things in life, be it family, friends or your job than scramble to cramp up things that don’t add much to life.
Highlight your best feature – Pick an outfit flatters your body type or an outfit in a color that makes you shine. I picked this outfit from Nidhi Munim which flatters my body type and showcases my shoulders and arms. I spent a lot of 2017 focusing on what didn’t work for me, so my resolution is to focus on what I have and count my blessings instead.
Here is wishing every one of you a fabulous New Year.
