NH7 Weekender – the happiest music festival kicks off in Pune today. It was during the last weekender in Pune, that the idea of Moda Ninja was born amidst endless discussion between Cheeky and me about what we love, hate and loathe – Cheeky had been toying with the idea of a fashion blog for a while and I happily jumped on the bandwagon!
So we are going to be there all weekend celebrating. If you there, come and say hi if you see us!
Music festival fashion is all about having fun with vivacious fabrics and accessories, so here is Moda Ninja’s take on what to wear at NH 7.
Denim shorts – The best pair of shorts to wear at a music festival is a denim pair. They are sturdy and wash out the mud from sitting on dusty grounds. Pair them with flowy tops, flowery tops or your favourite band tees. The fact is, denim shorts go perfectly with just about anything.
Maxi dress/ Rompers/ Jumpsuit – A loose flowy maxi dress or a romper is perfect for the boho-chic look at the festival. I prefer a jumpsuit/ romper over maxi though, as I don’t have to worry about the dress sliding up while sitting or dancing.
Shoes – Even if you are the types who can’t live without a bit of extra ‘height’; ladies please ditch your heels, or you know you are the inspiration behind this poster from the NH7 team. Anything flat like sneakers, converse, boots gladiators are cool to wear, but your stilettos!

Makeup – The most important makeup advice is wear sunscreen (yes I am quoting Baz Luhrmann, and its true). I think a natural look is best for festivals, so stick to a tinted moisturizer with SPF, some kajal and a lip balm. The dark red or pink lip also goes well, but ensure the rest of makeup is minimum.
Accessories– Music festivals are a time to you can overdose on accessorizes .Stack your arms up with bangles, bracelets, charms or strings of bead. Or try on some feathered jewellery like earrings and necklaces, headbands, flowers … bring it on!
Word of caution – music festivals are chaotic! You may not want to wear your favourite pieces, or anything valuable or irreplaceable! Stick to cross body sling bags so you don’t have to worry about holding or losing your purse.
Braids: They are chic and non maintenance and have multiple styles to chose from – read our earlier post on Braids.
At the end of the day, music festival fashion is all about having fun with what you wear, so wear what makes you sexy!!.
