This might be old news, but I continue to be inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfits in Sex and The City. They are bold, unconventional and the woman was not afraid to try something new and stick by her choice.
I have been wanting to style a flared midi skirt with a tee ever since I saw Carrie bump into Aidan in a souk in Abu Dabi The purple silver skirt with a Dior tee was such an unexpected styling back then.
I shared my idea with Pune based designer,Neha Gursahani who designed this beautiful gold skirt with blue net detail. Keeping my body type in. Mind, we chose to keep the length a little below the knee instead of all the way to the calf. The round cut and taffeta material ensured I got the flare I was looking for.
My flared and fabulous skirt is very special, especially since it was a birthday gift from a very dear friend.I wore the skirt to Lakme Fashion Week, winter / festive 2014. I styled it with a black from top and tribal necklace also designed by Neha. I hope you like it as much as I do!
The midi skirt has been trending for a while. I love it because it’s feminine and modest, yet very versatile. It is a great addition to your wardrobe this autumn. An A line cut and longer length(till or below your calf), is a great pick for most body types. I would recommend keeping the length just below your knees if you are on the shorter side like me.
Here are three ways to style a midi skirt
- Wear it with a fitted, button down blouse with detail on the neck and your favourite pointed toe pumps on your next date!
- Go vintage for a formal dinner or event adding a string of pearls, a bracelet or a brooch
- Add a single buttoned, well fitted jacket in baroque for a festive evening
