Going to New York Fashion Week is any self respecting fashion enthusiast’s dream. New York City, like London, Paris and Milan is the mecca of fashion. Seeing first hand the designs, trends & styles that will eventually trickle down to the streets is an exciting experience. There are several fashion shows that happen during this time in NYC, of course the biggest names in fashion showcase at NYFW. Unlike fashion weeks in India, New York Fashion Week is held at several locations across NYC. The hustle to get to shows is very real!
Catching the shows and seeing the designs on runways is an amazing experience, but very often some of the real style can be spotted on the streets. I am no photographer, (this is stale news :D), but I gave it shot to show you some of the styles I spotted around the city. Needless to say, my respect for street style photographers like Nam of StreeFSN, Brent of Urban FieldNotes, and of course Scott Schuman, The Satorialist has gone up several notches. It’s hard work to get a good shot when someones on the move or asking someone to take a minute to pose for you and tell you what they are wearing. And with so many famous people walking around, several photographers are running, jumping, laying down to get a shot. I don’t know if I am cut out for that, but here are the few trends I spotted on the streets of NYC
Leather & Pleather everywhere: It’s turning out to be an ‘it’ girl’s staple and it’s the easiest to dress up or down.
I too ended up wearing pleather on one of the days! I wore a faux leather & fur jacket designed by Burning Guitars. I wish I had better photos but this was the end of the day so until I shoot with it again, this will have to do.
Colored Hair & Sneakers ! Grey seems to be the hair color of the season, followed by any color that tickles your fancy! Sneakers with everything seems to be the most practical trend in a while, especially in cities where one needs to walk like crazy!
@dearmilano’s shoes are made for walking across the city!
Mexican bloggers, both incidentally named Andrea (@andreacano & @dearmilano) rocking their sneakers and statement clutches!
Blade Branstrom who’s been frequenting fashion week as a Street Style Blogger for several years had the coolest pair of glasses I’d seen that day!
Relaxed silhouettes: As we transition through seasons, people took a last opportunity to wear relaxed or anti fit outfits.
This printed number was my personal favorite!
Statement Booties & Box heels: 2015 has been about comfort, so when you do choose to wear heels it’s all about the boxed heel! I loved these dramatic floral cutwork booties!
Here is a shout out to the Pressed Juicery + Scream Queens who were passing out delicious & refreshing Killer Roots juices to paparazzi and NYFW attendees!
Let me know what you think of my photography and trend spotting, I’d love to hear from you!
I’ll be posting a couple of more posts in the coming weeks on what I wore to fashion week. Come back soon!.
