Gone are the days when summer meant ‘no- no’ to layering! While the scorching heat makes one pull out shorts and tees, there are imaginative ways to pull off summer layering without succumbing to a heat stroke! Step up your summer look by simply understanding fabrics which work best for summers and mix and match garments. You can create layering looks by mixing tops, shorts, shirts, vests, dresses and skirts one on another.
If you are wary of trying out layering as a trend, start with the simple “three piece” rule which simply means to combine a third garment in addition to their a and bottom. When it comes to summer layer the key to remember is light weight fabric for every piece of garment. Change your staple tee and shorts/ jeans look by adding a cotton knit long cardigan or a light weight summer kimonos.
Experiment with summer layering by wearing tops of different color. Throw in a crop top or a lace bandeau on the good old white shirt to add to the classic ‘denim and white shirt’ look. Layering crop tops or vest with other tops or shirts in sheer, mesh or chiffon is the perfect way to stay cool while you layer your outfit.
Another interesting way to layer while staying breezy, is adding a tee or blouse under a slip dress, rompers or a pinafores. Or throw a tshirt over a maxi dress and knot the tee on the side.
For this post, I created my summer layer look by layering my coordinate set from Stalk Buy Love and H&M white shirt, statement earrings from Kista. Let me know what you think of this look.
