I have been obsessed with watching the entire series of Sex and The City. I spent a few weeks oohing and aahing over the fascinating outfits and complicated lives of the beautiful, single ladies from Manhattan!
Long before the young ones from the Upper East Side made their entry into the world, Carrie Bradshaw has been shaking things up with her experimental sense of style. This post is dedicated to a particular episode in SATC where Carrie is in the midst of her third major relationship with a fellow writer called Jack Berger. They argue over the fact that a modern day New York woman would not wear a scrunchie in public (the hair tie we use to pull our hair back). Berger is upset about the criticism from Carrie and makes a rude comment about the fascinator she is wearing. (A fascinator is a large hair decoration on a band or clip with elaborate trimmings and decoration. Also often seen on ladies at the races and recently on Kate Middleton). Being a fan of the character’s sense of style, I was taken aback by the attitude of the man toward the independent leading lady.
While I have personally never worn a facinator, I was introduced to a lesser known cousin – the SHOE facinator! Something that probably did not exist during Carrie’s time. Whether a man laughs or finds it intriguing doesn’t bother me, I find it be a great accessory, especially for the upcoming party season.
Sannam, from Blend Fashion Accessories has a collection of fresh and individualistic pieces and sent us a pair of shoe fascinators! Here is how I wore it.
