Embroidery invokes nostalgia from craft class at school and hand-made knick-knacks made by grandma for me. But this spring a skill that engaged women for centuries is making a fashionable come back across the runway. From Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs to Gucci, embroidery is the toast of the town. My personal favourite is the embroidered bomber jacket. The contrast of the ornate embroidery on the sporty silhouette is the perfect combination of slouch and sophistication.
Embroidered jackets are attention-grabbing outfits but it is an easy and comfortable trend to adapt. It is an investment piece for the wardrobe – can be easily mixed and matched with different outfits to create different looks. It can take centre stage with their vibrant embroidery patterns and jazz up a casual outfit.
- Easiest way to style these are with skinny jeans for the “off-duty model” look.
- Wear them with cropped tuxedo style pants and brogue for an androgynous look
- Go ’90s-style with shredded jeans and boots or with a slip dress and heels.
- Throw the bomber jacket over your LBD or favourite cocktail dress to change the look completely.
I styled this gorgeous embroidered eclipse bomber jacket from Aiman in a feminine yet edgy and decided to mix patterns and texture. I wore an ikat woven dress with the jacket and dark lips and metallic heels and socks for more pattern play. Let me know in comment below what you think?
