I couldn’t hold my excitement when Moda Ninja got invited to attend a fashion bloggers session by Ariel (P&G) at J W Marriott, Mumbai last week. The session was part of Ariel’s latest campaign called “My Ariel My Story” – the fact that there is a story behind every treasured garment. It could be a sari someone’s mom gave them as a family heirloom, a favourite shirt gifted by a dear one or jeans from college to give you comfort of fitting into youth, most of them have a sentimental value.
This tête-à-tête was with the bollywood fashion guru Manish Malhotra and TV star Mona Singh on styling treasured garments and tips on preserving them. After the initial rounds of introductions with other fellow bloggers Manish speculated on how young we were (haha if only he knew ;)).
He started the session talking about his favorite garment the band gala he was wearing as it makes him feel younger and was the first bandgala he had designed for himself years back. Then Mona Singh shared her treasured garment which was a dress back from her college days gifted by her dad for a college fashion show and hence the sentimental value attached to it. Manish then shared his inputs on style overhaul and new look for Mona’s dress with Hot pink satin heels, a matte shrug and bracelets.
We had been asked to carry our treasure garments and I made the most of this opportunity by asking him for tips for this classic cocktail dress from Promod; I treasure because it is my go to dress in crisis to look good. I will do a separate outfit post with Manish Malhotra’s style tips 🙂
The session continued with Manish and Mona sharing insights on bollywood fashion and his love for fashion from the 70’s, their love for Indian wear and what they think of Indian fashion bloggers. As expected he thinks Kareena is the most stylish bollywood actress.
This being Moda Ninja’s first bloggers meet is special and the team at P&G, the PR and social media team from Group M was fun and friendly with lots of positive energy. Special mention to fellow bloggers, they made me feel like old friends and part of sorority sharing information, giving tips and eating lots of jalebi and rabri together. I met Renisha (she rockin them stilettos), Amena (Fashionopolis) and Ila (Flea Market Queen).
The only sore part of the day was that Cheeky Ninja was in Pune and I missed my partner in crime at this exciting event.
