I should apologise for the silence at my end. October was the month of change, and this post has been pending for a while. But it seems apt and well timed that I should profess my love for my favourite city, when I am miles away from my country, about to try a new life in America. Yes, I haven’t mentioned before, but the move to America had been in the making for a few months and I write this post from the East Coast ( think close to NYC) looking out at fall colours and mentally preparing to bundle myself in layers of clothes before I step out in the cold.
While I was brought up in Pune, I was born in Bombay. Growing up, I spent several summers with my extended family in Bombay. I have fond memories of my childhood there. Visits to the chowpati on Juhu beach, Essel World, listening to my dad and uncles share stories on Bollywood celebrity spotting, shopping and even travelling by the local trains! I loved it all.
So when I saw the collection of organic printed tees from BrownBoy, I could not wait to have the ‘Bombay’ tee!
One of my favourite things about the city is that you make great friends here. I honestly have felt that everyone from the rickshaw and taxi walas, to colleagues and strangers from all walks of life you meet at bars, are open and friendly!
Thanks to Sneaky Ninja, I’ve met some wonderful people in the city of Bombay. One such person is Zayed, a Bandra boy who was nice enough to feature on this shoot with me.
Badari Duddupudi tried to capture the camaraderie, fun and craziness of the city through these pictures. Do check out his website, he is a fantastic photographer.
