It’s time to welcome spring with the festival of colors! The festival that celebrates good over bad is one of Sneaky and my favorite Indian holiday! While Sneaky is gearing up to literally paint the town various colors in Bombay, I am waiting for warmer months on the East Coast(of America), when several music and color festivals will be hosted.
Here are 6 things to remember before you step out to party!
Organic, Eco Friendly Color: The awareness for eco friendly color has gone up the past few years and for the sake of your own skin and surroundings it’s a good idea to jump onto this wagon. Look for natural dyes made from Turmeric, Beetroot, Tulsi.
Several local manufacturers as well as brands like Organic India are producing eco & skin friendly products.
Loose, Easy Drying Outfit: It is almost Indian tradition to choose your oldest tee to wear for holi, but remember how heavy and uncomfy and cold cotton gets after its wet? So if you are really going to get down and dirty, try a quick drying tee with a pair of shorts or Pjs.
Wear Sunscreen: You are going to be in the sun for prolonged hours and the water keeps washing away natural moisture from your skin, making it more susceptible to burns. Especially with coat of oil or moisturizer(which our granny’s adviced us to do), you will end up soaking more sun. Protect your skin from getting burnt in the sun, wear a good water resistant high spf sunscreen.
Stay in good company: The unfortunate part of heading out on Holi is the higher risk and nuisance of eve teasers and miscreants. While we would love to live in a world where we live without the fear of some a**h**e trying to feel us, just try to hang around a known set of friends and family.
Hydrate: Carry your drinking water or keep buying bottles of water and stay hydrated. It will ensure you are having fun longer!
Moisturize: Give some tender love and care to your skin after the long day of fun.
We love Bath & Body Country Chic Works Ultra Shea Body Cream, the shea butter with a woody, citrus fragrance is pleasantly feminine!
And let your facial skin sleep well with The Body Shop Vitamin E Night Cream!
Have a Happy Holi!
