Statement accessories have been making rounds for the past few years, from chunky neckpieces to chandelier earrings to wearing several wrist accessories to make an arm party! International accessory designers like Anya Hindmarch have been dishing out quirky and cute wallets, clutches and handbags for a few years now. Fall 2015 runways had Miu Miu, Moschino, Kate Spade showcase some fun and exciting handbags and clutches.
While we love global designers, we always want to give a shout out to local designers. We collaborated with Priyanka Churi, a local hand bag designer from Mumbai who specializes in making handcrafted pieces. Trust us, these are worthy of being your only accessory this coming festive season.
PeeBee, Priyanka’s label stands for ‘Break-Boring!’. We love how she plays with shapes for every collection instead of sticking to the regular squares and box clutches. From bottle to paan daan, the bags come in different shapes with lattice frames in antique/silver with designs of peacock frame, rust rose, triangle, round & square! The other design feature we love is that the bags can be used either way, the frames are two sided along with that the prints and work done on both sides are different.
It is difficult to choose one favorite from her designs, but this antique gold frame Rajasthani door bag with surface ornamentation caught my eye. I love how the bead-work on the print gives illusion of depth and unique shape and print adds drama.
Playing up the drama of the bag, I kept the styling minimal, wearing a single tone shift dress with lace up booties. The dress is tailor made from a gorgeous Muga silk dupatta gifted by a dear friend who was in Assam. Sneaky tip – if you have interesting dupattas lying around you can easily tailor them into dresses and kurtas :).
