Most of us can’t afford an entirely separate wardrobe for office and weekends, there is always decision to be made while shopping to invest in work clothes or clothes you really like. We kick-started a series to talk about what a girl got to do to style the same pieces for work and play. Check our first post of All Work and All Play here and in this post we will try to repurpose our evening wear to HR- approved work wear.
Continuing from the last post, Sneaky Ninja styled her high waist tapered pants with a tucked in plain silk blouse while Cheeky Ninja wore her embellish blouse with a peach ankle length pants. We have incorporated outfit pieces from our evening wear but have paired it with muted pieces to make it work appropriate.
Here are some sneaky tips to pick clothes which can be easily worn to work and as evening wear –
- Pants – There is no rule which says formal pants for women have to be black, beige, grey and navy. While there is nothing wrong with these you can’t wear them anywhere other than work. Our tip is to pick couple of pants in colours like mustard, teal or burgundy. Pair it with a muted top to make it work appropriate and style it with a crop top or graphic t-shirt outside of work.
- Top – Same goes for tops, it doesn’t have to be solids, stripes or check shirts. Feel free to incorporate your evening wear printed blouses and frill tops to your work outfit like Cheeky Ninja in this post. Keep the bottom solid and muted while at work and pair them with billowy skirt for cocktail party.
- Accessories:Don’t be afraid to wear a statement brooch on your shirt, add a belt above your high waist pants or wear a long chained neck-piece to work. Work jewelry doesn’t always have to be delicate, a cocktail ring when paired with white shirt and black trouser adds the zing to an otherwise boring outfit, like the multi-color stone chain from Kohar Sneaky Ninja added to her work wear.
We would really love to hear from you, if you like this post or have feedback on this series of work wear to play, do let us know your thoughts.
