Blame it on fitness being back in fashion or casual being the new black “Sports Luxe” is the trend of the moment. Introduced to the fashion world by Alexander Wang in 2012, sports-inspired clothing has only got bigger in 2014. What it means is playing dress up mixing high fashion with sport products. Think football jersey with a pencil skirt, sheath dress with bomber jacket and wedge trainers, crop top and sweat pants. Just remember it isn’t going sporty all the way, but to combine little sporty chic and keep it minimalistic.
Here are four sneaky ways to incorporate this trend
- You can combine multiple sporty pieces like varsity-inspired numbered jersey, backpack and sneakers with high fashion piece like skater skirt.
- Or combine a single sport item like sweatshirt with a pencil skirt and pointed pumps.
- If you aren’t sure how to combine sporty pieces in the outfit, try including accessories in your regular look like leather backpack or baseball cap and wedge trainers with skater dress.
- Remember it is called Sports Luxe for a reason, it is not about looking athletic but stylish chic with a sporty twist. Key is to look polished not sloppy, so feel free to pick luxe fabric like silk, satin, sheer when you pick track pants or bomber jackets.
Here is my take on this trend, I have been love stuck with these shoes I got from my trip to Shillong. With the peppy yellow shoes and teapot print on the dress creating enough stir I kept accessories, makeup and hair minimal. What do you think of this look, would love to hear your views?
