There are plenty of reasons to love summer; mangoes, litchis, summer dresses and lots of ice cream. This summer am in love with this maxi dress. It’s my first one, even though it has been a popular trend for year or two. I am a sucker for Indian prints & handlooms; so this tie-dye maxi in shades of blue and green is perfect. I wanted to keep the maxi as the main focus, so stayed away from accessorising the look except for stack of bangles and a contrast bag in shocking pink. Maxis are great for summers, it keeps you cool even when you want to cover up the legs. It can also be easily styled as day wear, wearing them with flats and no jewelry as well as for a glam evening out with heels and statement jewelry.
Often petite girls think maxis would make them look even shorter, but I think you can look great if you pick the right shape and fit, here are few sneaky tips –
1. Fit is the key – A lot of maxis are voluminous and flowy, making one look stubby, so stick to form fitting maxis, avoid too many ruffles and frills.
2. Solid colours or fine patterns – If you are short stick to a single solid color, bright colors especially works best on petite women. If you are looking for prints stick to smaller/ fine prints instead.
3. Consider getting it hemmed – Hem the dress as per your height if you want to wear it flats, or wear wedges or block heels and add some extra inches to your frame.
